QINGDAO plans to upgrade its manufacturing industries through restructuring the raw material industry and strengthening its equipment manufacturing. It also plans to incubate a batch of new industry projects with key technology in order to make Qingdao a major manufacturing base. There will be particular focus on petrochemical projects, chemicals, iron, building materials and the rubber industry.

    The city will also upgrade and improve its consumer goods industry, gathering more companies and incubating well-known brands. Among these, the textile and clothing industry will be key areas.

    The high-end machinery and equipment industry will be a focus of development. There will be 67 projects in machinery and equipment manufacturing worth 46.3 billion yuan in total.

    The city will also prioritize the emerging industries, particularly the new energy, new material, biomedicine, energy saving and information technology. More than 100 new projects in emerging industries will be introduced this year.
