Roy (罗易) I’ve heard a lot of adults say: “I don’t like Shenzhen’s Spring Festival. There are too few people around during the holiday.” It is true. The Spring Festival atmosphere in Shenzhen is quieter than that in a lot of cities in China. However, Shenzhen residents have their own way of enjoying traditional holidays, which is truly warm. One week before the Spring Festival, the flower market begins. It has taken place each of the 30 years of Shenzhen’s existence as a special economic zone, and is key to its Spring Festival celebrations. Various kinds of flower, new toys and traditional snacks are shown to people. Every year when I go to the flower market, I find I am pulled and pushed in the crowd. I sweat even when I’m wearing a sweater! However, deep down, I am pleased to stand in the crowd and share in people’s excitement for the Spring Festival. Some of my friends even take photos when they visit the flower market every year. During the Spring Festival, going to temples is always a choice for Shenzhen residents. People rush to Fairy Lake in Luohu during the holiday where a famous temple lies. Traffic moves very slowly around the area. The same scene can be found in the Fenghuang Mountain in Bao’an District. More than 300,000 people climbed the mountain in the Spring Festival to pray at the temple on the peak. All in all, Shenzhen’s atmosphere during the Spring Festival is warm enough. If we go to more places and observe more, we may feel that Shenzhen is actually an interesting place for the Spring Festival! |
