QINGDAO has chosen 10 central towns for urbanized construction in the next five years. By the end of 2014, the population in each of the 10 central towns is expected to surpass 50,000. The infrastructure and public service facilities in the 10 central towns are expected to match those in sub-central cities. In addition, the fiscal revenue of the central towns is expected to be double the level in 2009. Among the selected 10 central towns, three to five will gain city status each with a population of over 100,000.(Li Hao, Yu Feng) |
