More car parking facilities to open
    2011-04-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A NUMBER of new car parking facilities were built to meet the increasing demand of vehicles.

Construction on the Zhanqiao Outlets Square Car Parking has been finished and will open before May 1. And Zhongshan Park Underground Parking Lot and Dangdai Plaza Underground Parking Lot will start construction this year.

The Zhanqiao Outlets Square Parking Lot will provide space for 178 buses on the ground and underground space for 440 cars, for the convenience of tourists to Zhanqiao, Tianhou Palace, Naval Museum, and Underwater World.

The Book City Car Parking Building under construction will provide parking for 135 cars. The building will finish construction this year.

A car parking lot at the junction of Weihai Road and Taidong Road 1 in plan will occupy 10,000 square meters underground. This will make it easier to find a parking space in Taidong Commercial Area.

Construction projects of the No. 2 Stadium Car Parking Lot, CBD Dunhua Road Car Parking Lot, Junfeng Road Car Parking Lot and Badaxia Square Parking Lot are also progressing.

The city’s civil defense projects such as Haiqin Square and Zhanshan Square will also serve as temporary parking lots.

Parking is difficult in residential estates in the city’s old town. A number of small car parks which make use of vacant land, wide sidewalks and areas under a flyover have been built in Sifang District and Licang District.

The city will build 10 more such small car parks providing about 1,800 parking spaces in the first half of this year.(Chen Ting, Cui Wu)
