Wang Yuanyuan More than 30,000 students attending the National College Entrance Examinations (NCEE) will now be allowed to receive health checks at the nine public hospitals in the city, according to the city’s Education Bureau last week. The health checks will end on April 30, but students with Shenzhen hukou who are now studying in other cities can receive health checks between May 16 and 17, the bureau said. There are 33,061 students applying to take this year’s NCEE to be held in June. The nine hospitals include Shenzhen People’s Hospital, Shenzhen No.2 People’s Hospital, Nanshan District People’s Hospital, Yantian District People’s Hospital, Bao’an District People’s Hospital and Longgang District Central Hospital. All students can attend the check with a “health check certificate” which will be given by schools. The results will be recorded on computer by doctors and go to the students’ files for the NCEE. If there are problems with the results, such as having some diseases, students will receive medical treatment immediately and receive another check at the hospital between June 16 and 17. Hepatitis B will not be checked this year, the bureau said. Those who are found to cheat at the health check can not attend the NCEE and doctors and schools will get punishment for helping them cheating. The bureau suggested students don’t participate in any strenuous exercise or stay up too late the night before the check. Students should also not take any drugs one week before the check. If a student has to take medicine for curing some disease, he has to explain it to doctors before the checks. |
