Letters From Readers

AT around 8 p.m, April 10, a driver who was apparently drunk along with six other passengers drove his car onto the sidewalk on Guiyuan Road, Luohu District, to park. As he was doing so, he knocked a bicycle down. Although nobody was hurt, he did almost hit my wife who jumped out of the way just in time. The motorist and the passengers got out of the car to check to see if there was any damage to his car. Never once determining if there was any damage to the bicycle. The driver himself was staggering and trying to stay upright and was obviously very drunk.

China’s crackdown on drink-driving has been fruitful. The incident reminded us that there should be no letup in the fight against drunk driving. There are too many unruly motorists who show little concern for the safety of others.
