THE second phase of Qingdao's biggest logistics distribution and exchange center with a total investment of 300 million yuan has started operations recently. Meanwhile, more than 10 logistics projects, such as a warehouse, a logistics center and a logistic distribution center in Jiaozhou, with total investment of more than 100 million yuan also finished construction. At present, Qingdao is one of the nine national logistics areas in the country. In 2010, the added value of the city's logistics industry was 51.293 billion yuan, 12.3 percent higher than the previous year. Qingdao is now building three logistics systems involving air, land and sea, aiming at becoming an international logistics center of Northeast Asia. The logistics industry will become a core industry in promoting the development of the blue economy in Shandong Peninsula. Qingdao will focus on building the system and upgrading the industry in the hope of incubating a big logistic brand and building more logistic centers. More preferential policies will also be carried out to help promote the industry. At present the city plans to build seven logistics parks and 12 logistics centers. In 2015, added value of the industry will reach 100 billion yuan, accounting for 17.7 percent in the service industry. (Wang Yuanyuan, Li Xiaohan) Pier construction finished THE main structure of the first phase of west pier in Dongjiakou Harbor has finished construction recently, which was the first key infrastructure project finished in the harbor. The project was 1,718-meter long and devised into three sections. There are east and west piers in Dongjiakou Harbor with a total length of 6,373.6 meter and total investment of 1.5 billion yuan.
