Marine leisure industry booms
    2011-04-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AS a result of the marine leisure industry in Qingdao’s current boom, a number of leisure facilities have been built.

There are 15 well-managed marine leisure zones in the city, including Tianheng Township in Jimo where the Sea Sacrifice Festival is held, Hongdao Community where tourists can harvest clams, Wanggezhuang Community in Laoshan District where you can taste seafood and Chanzhi Reservoir in Laixi District which is open to anglers.

The city will build another 30 marine leisure bases and 10 brand-name leisure centers for tourism, seafood tasting and festivals in 2015.

Chengyang District houses most of the city’s marine leisure facilities. Most well-known is the Hongdao Island Clams Festival, which has entered its seventh year. It is now one of Qingdao’s “10 Best Folk Culture Festivals.” The first anglers’ festival and another event inviting tourists to harvest shrimps were started in the district last year.

The Sea Sacrifice Festival in Tianheng, Jimo attracted more than 60,000 people this year. In Aoshanwei and Tianheng townships there are more than 100 seafood restaurants along the coastal line.
