THE novel “Tibetan Mastiff 2,” by Qingdao’s writer Yang Zhijun, will be adapted to a 3D animation, said a film investment company April 18. The Locus Global Entertainment Group, founded by Wu Zheng, husband of a notable Chinese TV hostess Yang Lan, will launch the film project within this year. Yang Zhijun said the film based on his first book of the “Tibetan Mastiff” series has completed production and will be screened June 28 in China. It was also an animation, jointly invested in by Mad House Incorporation of Japan and the China Film Group Corporation. Yang said “Tibetan Mastiff 2” has been translated into English, thus gaining recognition from Hollywood film producers. “Unlike the first story, the second book depicted the dog and wolf into more typical characters,” said Yang. He said reading the story is a challenge and it can also be widely accepted by readers globally. The film production will be by top professionals from Hollywood. Yang said he hoped the 3D animation would be a cartoon for both children and adults like the “Lion King.” A press conference will be held in May to give more details of the film production.
