The season for flower blossom
    2011-04-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Roy 罗易

Now is the season of new life! The weather warms and flowers blossom. It is time to expose ourselves to nature. Last week, I had the fortune to visit Wuhan University for the cherry blossoms.

The cherry blossoms in Wuhan University are well-known nationally. Every year from late March to early April is the cherry blossom season. The university campus is always full of visitors from across the nation.

The cherry trees were planted by Japanese invaders 80 years ago, so they are a relic for Chinese people of the history of Japan’s invasion of China.

Apart from their historical function, the cherry blossoms are essentially charming, like other cherry blossoms.

Standing under the cherry trees, I imagined myself being immersed in petals falling like snow. The color of cherry blossoms is not as flamboyant as that of peach blossoms, but the magical mixture of white and pink make cherry blossoms stand out. Sitting under one tree, I enjoyed myself alone among the flowers, not being disturbed by other visitors.

According to statistics from the Wuhan government, there are around 200,000 visitors to visit the Wuhan University campus every day when the cherry trees blossom.

Before my visit, I wondered why people would go to Wuhan from all around the country just for a kind of flower.

After the trip, I got my answer: every one has his own reason, for entertainment, for meditation, or just as the pursuit of beauty.
