THE Annual Summit of China Green Companies 2011 was held in Qingdao with the theme of maintaining responsibility and creativity under globalization.

    U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said the conference and its theme were very important to companies. Companies should also upgrade their services to a higher level if seeking sustainable development.

    A growing number of companies around the world have already improved their policies and practices in environmental protection and business management. However, there are still challenges which require more effort from the companies.

    During the process, cooperation between public departments and private organizations was key. The world has to try its best to promote sustainable development in the creation of a greener economy.

    The conference is held April 22 every year and is a summit forum attended by many top Chinese companies. Guests from all around the world were invited to discuss green development and promote communication between government and companies. (Wang Yuanyuan, Lin Gang)
