Mass culture and arts festival opens

    2011 sees the inaugural Qingdao Mass Culture and Arts Festival, which opened May 1 at the May Fourth Square.

    The festival, held by the publicity authority, broadcasting, press and publication bureau, and the Mass Arts Gallery, will last until Sept. 25.

    Seven categories of event will be held, including a singing month, a chorus competition to observe the 90th anniversary of the CPC, a painting, photography and calligraphy exhibition, a community culture campaign, a singing contest, a livable city campaign, and a song and dance show.

    Each event encourages participation from all citizens to enrich the city’s cultural life.(Tina Chen, Li Wei)
