‘Blue Fantasy’ returns to sailing center
    2011-05-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE new version of a music and dance show “Blue Fantasy” was staged at Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center on April 28.

The one-hour show tells the story of Qingdao’s history and its ocean-inspired culture.

“Blue Fantasy,” a show set against the backdrop of the ocean, was created in 2008 for the Beijing Olympic Games and the new version has made advances in stage design, illumination design, storytelling and special effects.

The show is in four chapters under titles of “Gold,” “Blue,” “Purple,” and “Multi-colored.” The story goes with a young man meeting a mermaid during his tour in Qingdao.

Young performers dance to familiar melodies such as “The Sea, My Hometown” and “A Messenger Bottle.” There is also a performance by some clowns to bring a lighter mood to the audience.

Two 70-square-meter LED screens are equipped on the stage to provide background pictures.

The city’s icons, including the beach, the sea, Laoshan Mountain, Tsingtao beer and sailing boats are all presented in the show.(Tina Chen, Wang Ping)
