    Paul McCartney engaged

    Paul McCartney and his girlfriend Nancy Shevell are engaged, his publicist said on Friday, nearly four years after they were first spotted* together.

    McCartney, 68, started dating the 51-year-old New York socialite* and businesswoman following his bitter split from second wife Heather Mills.

    U.K. music rich list

    “The X Factor” and former “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell jumped to No. 6 in the British music rich list in 2011 after his fortune hit 200 million pounds (US$330 million), Britain’s Sunday Times newspaper said on Thursday.

    That was a 35-million-pound rise on 2010, when he was 11th in the annual rankings published by the newspaper, and took him above Elton John and Mick Jagger whose fortunes were estimated at 195 million pounds and 190 million pounds respectively.

    Christine Fan’s wedding

    Taiwan TV host Blackie Chen and singer Christine Fan had their long awaited star-studded* wedding after a 10-year courtship* in Taipei on Saturday.

    Among the 700 guests were Taiwan tycoon Terry Gou and wife Delia Tseng, Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung, Taiwan singers A-mei and Wang Lee-hom, and basketball player Sam Ho.

    Schwarzenegger’s comeback

    Arnold Schwarzenegger has zeroed in on the film that will mark his return to the big screen: “Cry Macho,” a drama about a horse trainer who is hired to kidnap a 9-year-old boy. Filming is set to begin in September.
