Shenzhen junior English journalists write about their memorable interview experience
    2011-05-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    An amazing system

    王腾岳 南山实验学校麒麟中学部

On April 30, a group of us junior English journalists came to the Intelligent Sensor Networks Engineering Research Center at Shenzhen Graduate School of Qinghua University.

Do you want to upload photos from your camera without connecting it to the computer? The IPv6 “Catch and Transfer” System, which has been developed by the university, will fulfill this dream.

After taking photos, the photographer can send them with ease by inserting a memory card into a specific card reader. The IPv6 “Catch and Transfer” System can upload not only photos but also videos onto the Internet. It runs so fast that it can go around the world in a short time. This amazing system will be provided to journalists for free during the 26th Shenzhen Universiade.

2011 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of Qinghua University and also the 10th anniversary of its graduate school’s foundation in Shenzhen. I hope it will strive to be ranked on par with Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge as one of the world’s major academic institutions.

    Easter Festival in IKEA

On Easter Sunday, some of us junior English journalists went to IKEA to conduct an interview about the Swedish Easter Festival. At first we had a Western culture class. Then we arrived at IKEA.

The supervisor of the shop acted as our guide and introduced the company to us briefly. He told us the name of IKEA was an abbreviation of four words: Inguar, kamprad, Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd.

After that, the supervisor gave us an introduction about how Swedish people celebrate Easter and the food they eat. It was very interesting. I learned a lot.

After that, he took us to the second floor to taste some Swedish food. It was delicious. Finally he gave a beautiful Easter egg to each of us.

    A visit to Sheraton Hotel

Today was an exciting experience. I went to visit the Sheraton Hotel and interviewed their new marketing director Mr. Nils Windmueller in the hotel’s new presidential suite.

Before we went to the hotel, our teacher told us something about Mr. Windmueller. We knew he came from Germany and he had been working in the Sheraton Hotel for many years.

When we arrived at the Sheraton Hotel, a lady led us to the presidential suite. That was my first time to ever set foot in a presidential suite. It was a really beautiful, warm, luxurious room. I wished I could stay there all day.

Mr. Windmueller told us he had 18 years of experience in managing hotels. He used to work in the Sheraton Hotel in Vietnam. When he was young, he had been a chef. His work had taken him to many different places.

As everyone knows, rising from a chef to a hotel manager is not simple. He said that when you fail, you try again and when you fall down, you get back up!
