Sailing promoted on campus
    2011-05-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A CAMPAIGN to promote sailing on campus will be continued for the next five years.

The city plans to strengthen exchange with countries and regions which have developed a robust sailing environment.

Before 2015, the city aims to build 100 schools with a strong sailing component and eight public youth sailing clubs.

A total of 100,000 youths are expected to take part in sailing trainings some of whom will be trained as potential members of provincial and national sailing teams.

The city started the sailing promotion campaign in 2006 and has been selected as a national model in promoting sailing among the youth.

Efforts and achievements have been recognized by international sailing circles and the president of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, and the chairman of the International Sailing Federation.
