Six industrial zones move on developing track

    A TOTAL of 502 projects have been introduced to the city’s six key industrial zones, totaling an investment of 28.5 billion yuan, according to the city’s economic and information technology committee.

    The Longquan auto parts industrial zone in Jimo has seen a 230-million-yuan investment on its infrastructure while 32 projects have been chosen to be located in the zone, totaling an investment of 9.5 billion yuan.

    A total of 1.7 billion yuan was invested on the projects in the zone last year, covering vehicle modification, the engine system, the auto chassis system, auto interior and exterior trims and auto electronics.

    The shipbuilding industrial zone on Women Island in Jimo last year saw the last installment of 900 million of a total 5-billion yuan in investment. The first ship was completed in the zone in November last year.

    A 3-billion yuan nuclear energy project saw the start of construction last December and is expected to generate a yearly sales volume of 10.9 billion yuan and a tax income of 700 million yuan.

    The heavy and chemical industrial zone in Jiaonan’s Dongjiakou has signed to start two projects worth 3.8 billion yuan. Another nine projects worth 10.5 billion yuan are under negotiation.

    The equipment manufacturing industrial zone in Jiaozhou’s Yanghe will host five projects worth 20 billion yuan and another three worth 1.5 billion yuan are being negotiated.

    The ecological chemical industrial zone in Pingdu’s Xinhe has signed five projects worth 2.5 billion while another 20 worth 8 billion yuan are under negotiation.

    The light industrial zone in Laixi’s Jiangshan will welcome 455 projects worth 41.8 billion yuan and another 23 projects worth 4.7 billion yuan are expected to be introduced.

    The city designated six key industrial zones in 2008 with a planned total investment of 82.4 billion yuan.
