INCREASING the city’s ability to create high-added-value products has become the only way out for the local manufacturing industry. The city now promotes industrial transforming and technological upgrading to help the traditional manufacturing industry reach the high-end market and increase its profitability. In the next five years, seven traditional industries will be upgraded such as home appliances, chemistry, automobiles, ship manufacturing, textile, food and drink, and automotive engineering. At the same time, five new industries including new energy, new materials, biological medicine, energy-saving and information technology, will receive the same level of attention. During the process, integration of small and medium-sized enterprises will be the key to the government’s plan. The city will next improve a database with complete policy system and service system to provide information services to companies. It will also organize activities such as e-business application and information technology training to these companies to help them develop. By 2015, the city’s manufacturing industry is expected to make significant achievements in the use of automation, networking and intelligent technology. (Wang Yuanyuan, Lin Gang) |
