Nicholas Tse breaks silence on divorce rumors
    2011-06-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

After weeks of speculation* and rumors, Hong Kong actor Nicholas Tse has finally broken his silence on divorce rumors that have plagued* him and his actress wife Cecilia Cheung lately.

The 30-year-old “Bodyguards and Assassins” star issued a statement via his management company Emperor Entertainment Group, denying media reports which claimed that he had taken steps to separate from Cheung.

“I, Nicholas Tse, have never sent Cecilia Cheung any lawyer’s letter requesting a separation.

“Regarding the false reports about me in Apple Daily (a tabloid* published in Hong Kong and Taiwan) today (Monday), I reserve* the right to take legal action,” said Tse in his statement to the media on Monday.

His statement was made public by Emperor Entertainment Group’s Director of Artiste Management Mani Fok on her microblog.

Tse is currently in Malaysia shooting a film.

The whole matter began when Hong Kong singer-actor Edison Chen confirmed last week that he had met Cheung at the airport on May 8.

Chen, who indirectly caused intimate photos of Cheung and himself to be leaked onto the Internet in 2008, claimed it was an amicable* meeting.

This sparked* speculation that Cheung had reconciled* with Chen, a development which some tabloids now claim had deeply upset Tse, and ultimately led him to demand a separation.

Cheung is now in Shenzhen shooting a romantic film “Repeat, I Love You” (“Ying Zi Ai Ren”), starring South Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo.

Cheung, who turned 31 last Tuesday, celebrated her birthday with good friends Christine Fan and Dee Hsu in Taiwan. Tse did not attend.

Tse had always made time to celebrate Cheung’s birthday with her in the past, showering her with gifts like a luxury car and branded bags.
