THE Guanlan International Print Biennial opened at the art museum in Qingdao recently. A total of 3,697 prints by 1,991 artists from 81 countries and regions were on display at the biennial, which was the biggest biennial yet held in China. After an evaluation by judges from the United States, Belgium, Japan and China, 248 productions were awarded, including 15 productions winning the “Guanlan Print Award.” The biennial was first held in 2007. As the earliest city in China to hold print biennial, Qingdao is now an important place for print development. Over recent years, more communication between Qingdao and Guanlan Printmaking Base in Shenzhen has been built and the biennial jointly organized by Qingdao and the base was one of its greatest achievements.
