Best gift from Qingdao
    2011-06-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Background: In 1903, a German beer company invested in a beer factory on Dengzhou Road in Qingdao and its product later became the country’s top beer brand — Tsingtao Beer. In 1914, the factory was taken over by Japan after the city was occupied by the Japanese army and wasn’t returned until Qingdao was liberated June 2, 1949.

PEOPLE said that beautiful Qingdao was surrounded by two types of bubble, one from the sea and one from the beer.

In one of the company’s factories on Dengzhou Road, the Tsingtao Beer Museum attracts hundreds of visitors every day. Many travelers come to the museum to experience its historical beer.

Built in 1903, the original factory was a German-style building. Section A of the museum is about the factory and company’s history over the past 100 years, while Section B explains the making of the world-famous beer. Visitors can also enjoy the freshest beer made from the factory at the small bar next to the museum. “The fresh beer is so great and tastes so good. I can taste the charm of the city through the beer,” said a visitor named Wang Dafei who came from Jinan.

In the factories, workers are busy making a beer of top quality and they are all proud to be part of the history of beer.

The company has now become a name card of the city. “Tsingtao Beer is the best gift Qingdao has given to the world,” said former Prime Minister of Australia, Bob Hawke.
