YU YIWEN, an adviser to the city’s advisory body, hoped a unified bicycle rental service system would be established for the benefit of residents. Users can rent and return bicycles with a Shenzhen Tong Card or TransCard. She said four major problems are now bottlenecking the development of bicycle rental service in Shenzhen. The existing network of bicycle lanes can’t satisfy the need of cyclists. On some roads, bicycle lanes are mixed with pedestrian roads and accidents are inevitable. There are no unified standards in bicycle management and bicycle lanes are often occupied by illegal parking and pedestrians. “I really hope the government could solve the last 1 km of commuting problems of residents and improve public transport,” Yu said. |
