A PARADE on Zhengyang Road opened the Tenth Chengyang District Citizens' Carnival on June 11.

The parade, composed of 27 groups home and abroad, attracted more than 100,000 spectators.

The parade started from the square in front of Chengyang District Government office building and passed the section of Zhengyang Road between Shancheng Road and Changcheng Road. It lasted about an hour.

The seven foreign groups included the San Paolo Samba Dance Troupe from Brazil, a foreign clown troupe, a dance troupe from Russia and a troupe from South Korea.

A drum dance troupe from the Wali Community in Liuting Subdistrict, Chengyang won praise from spectators.

The drum dance, using disk-shaped drums, is a traditional dance originating in Kaifeng, Henan Province.

There are 51 members in the drum dance troupe. And each drum weighs about 5 kilograms.

A number of events such as a food festival are also held during the two-week event.
