    Power saving

I REFER to your report “Ice-thermal technology helps save electricity” last week. I would like to suggest that Shenzhen retailers close their doors while running their air conditioners. In my recent trip to Shenzhen, I observed that over 90 percent of retailers, from Walmart to grocery stores, had their air conditioners running full blast, nonstop with their doors wide open. Even the huge malls were doing it. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that just closing a door while trying to keep your store cool will reduce the use of electricity. This simple and responsible act alone would probably do away with the need for expensive ice-thermal technology and would most definitely end the power shortages that Shenzhen is experiencing. If this paper wants to be a responsible news organization then it should contact the Shenzhen government and suggest that they require all people to close their doors while using air conditioning.

    Murdoch investment

I came across your report on Rupert Murdoch’s investment in the Shenzhen company Xunlei and would like to say something.

Murdoch, a former Australian citizen, acquired a U.S. passport and then bought and built a vast media empire in the United States, most notably the Fox News Network, which turned out to be the biggest cheerleader of the 2003 invasion of Iraq and is noted for its extreme views concerning the current U.S. administration. His companies in the United Kingdom are also known for the alleged illegal wiretapping of phone calls.

Fortunately, Murdoch was unable to expand his biased entertainment news empire into China, but now is trying to enter the back door through his investment in Xunlei.

This is what is attributed to Murdoch:

“Wendi and I recently made a personal investment in the Chinese video and music Internet company Xunlei Limited, through RW Investments. We believe in the talented entrepreneurs who launched this company and we are confident they can build a successful entertainment offering...”

Beware the beginnings — Murdoch’s “news” is worse than any government propaganda. The claims of Murdoch’s news empire of being “fair and balanced” are clearly erroneous.
