JIAONAN has successfully bred a local algae variety, sargassum fusiforme.

    It is the third local algae variety to be bred.

    The largest algae processing base in the world, Jiaonan has 10 large algae chemical enterprises, which can process more than 100,000 tons of algae and 25,000 tons of related products each year, accounting for around half of the total supply in the country.

    Jiaonan has started mass breeding two algae varieties.

    However, sargassum fusiforme has a higher output than the two, and can reach an output value of almost 4,000 yuan each mu (0.067 hectare).

    In addition, sargassum fusiforme’s breeding cycle is only three months.

    There is a huge market for algae foods in China and in foreign countries like Japan.
