QINGDAO has invested about 4.46 billion yuan in planting trees this year, the biggest investment in its history.

    It has planted more than 16 million trees in an area of 10.2 million square meters. More than 85 percent of the trees are expected to survive.

    Efforts in choosing suitable tree species and design of the landscape have been emphasized.

    New forests are being planted to better the environment, drive sustainable economic growth and improve people’s livelihood.(Chen Ting, Wang Liyan)
