THE 64 high-speed trains running on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail are the world’s fastest. In only seven years, the CSR Sifang Co. Ltd. has been transformed into a leading company in the industry with core technology and considerable creativity.

    The CRH380A trains operating on the high-speed rail have represented the country’s highest level in train manufacturing. The company has done more than 450 calculations and nearly 4000 tests. They have run for more than 2 million kilometers before being put into official operation, said Gong Ming, chief engineer of the company.

    The train can reach 580 kilometers per hour in only seconds.

    The company has the country’s most advanced laboratory in the field of rail technology. All design, calculation and tests are done here, said Gong.

    “We had nine different trains which were completely designed and manufactured by ourselves. Every step we take is very careful. Experts in the company are scientists, not adventurers,” he said.
