A NEW hospital opened in the Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone on July 10.

    Qingdao West Coast Hospital on Wutaishan Road is a first-class hospital with a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan and occupying an area of 360,000 square meters.

    Construction of the hospital started in October 2008 and was completed this May.

    There are 24 clinical departments, 13 medical departments and 1,500 beds in the hospital.

    The hospital has a faculty of 700 people. Medical experts from its parent hospital Qingdao University Medical College Affiliated Hospital will provide guest service.

    The hospital has invested 300 million yuan in advanced medical equipment. An advanced information management system is also equipped, enabling computerized medical records and prescription. With registration, pharmacy, cashier and every doctor’s computer interconnected, patients’ time can be saved.

    Stairs and corridors linking the buildings at the hospital are designed to be disabled-friendly. (Chen Ting, Sui Jun)
