THE 2011 “Future Star” national teenagers’ sports festival will be held in Qingdao from Aug. 5 to 8.

The sports event is sponsored by the State General Administration of Sports, Ministry of Education, and Communist Youth League.

Nearly 1,000 middle school students from 32 provinces, autonomous regions or municipalities will participate.

The festival will include competitions, performances, a forum and cultural exchange activities.

Competitions will be held in sports such as three-a-side basketball, five-a-side football, rope skipping, shuttlecock kicking, a relay race and orientation.

There will be shows of group dance, martial arts and sailing.

Olympic medalists will be invited to communicate with students, while students are encouraged to submit photography, painting, calligraphy and poems themed on the Olympics.
