QINGDAO will invest 500 million yuan to build a new science and technology museum by 2015. The city’s science association and Qingdao Huatong Holdings will be in charge of the project, which is now enlisting designs globally. The museum, themed around “ocean, technology and humanity,” is expected to occupy 3 hectares on Donghai Road to the west of the Qingdao Polar Ocean World. The total construction area will be 40,000 square meters. The museum will include 3D and 4D cinemas. “The design chosen will need to embody the latest technologies with imagination,” said an official with Huatong. “It should also get visitors involved as much as possible.” (Chen Ting, Zhao Di) |
