AN Internet of Things product, “e-family express,” has been installed in the first batch of 20 households in Zhanshan Subdistrict, Shinan District on July 20. It will enable people to watch TV, make phone calls and access the Internet at the same time. The equipment can be connected to a small POS machine, where people can pay water, electricity and other bills. It is also disabled-friendly. Those with special needs can make free phone calls to various services by pressing one express button. The “e-family express” is expected to be installed in more than 3,000 households before October, as part of a campaign to promote Internet of Things in communities. The equipment is developed by Qingdao Ontime Tianxiang Communications Technology Co. Ltd. Qingdao was listed as one of 12 pilot cities in China for the trial of Internet of Things technology last year. (Chen Ting, Jiang Huili) |
