QINGDAO plans to become an international logistics center in northeast Asia to serve Shandong Province and neighboring areas in 2015. The added value of the city’s logistics industry will reach 100 billion yuan, accounting for 17.7 percent in the service industry and 10 percent in the city’s GDP. To achieve the goal, the city announced a development plan for the industry recently. According to the plan, the city will continue to build and improve the bonded logistics parks. Construction of the Jiaozhou Bay International Logistics Zone, 12 logistics centers and eight logistics distribution centers will be finished. The number of the national 3A-level logistics companies will reach 60, including more than 20 5A-level centers and at least 15 national Top 100 logistics companies. Information technology will be promoted in the industry and public service platforms will be built to provide better service to companies and parks. More than 90 percent of the logistics companies will receive information technology service. Special attention will be given to developing logistics in areas such as automobiles, ship manufacturing, mechanical engineering, home appliances, textile and clothing, food and agriculture and trading logistics. The city will also promote a logistics outsourcing business between industrial and commerce companies and logistics companies. The public service platforms will also be promoted, including a city-level platform and industrial park-level platforms to provide information service and simplify procedures.
