Poor students to receive 2.66m yuan

THE city’s Charity Association plans to give out 2.66 million yuan to help 1,000 students from low-income backgrounds enter university.

According to the policy, the funds were raised from the city’s charity donation and other areas including Pingdu, Laixi, Jimo, Jiaonan and Jiaozhou.

More students will benefit from the support than last year. The students include children from low-income families and will be used to cover their living expenses at university. Each student can receive 1,000 to 3,000 yuan according to their family situation.

Qualified students can apply for subsidies from the association by the end of August and can get the subsidies after being investigated by the association. (Wang Yuanyuan, Li Lili)
