QINGDAO has become one of the 33 cities to pilot treatment of kitchen waste, according to a plan announced by the Central Government recently.

    The city will invest 160 million yuan in a kitchen waste treatment plant to be completed in five years.

    The first phase of the plant will be able to process about 200 tons of kitchen waste every year. The plant will start construction this year.
