Splendid Spanish culture
    2011-08-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    王彬宇 深圳南山外国语学校滨海分校

On July 20, we went to Instituto Cervantes in Beijing and were deeply impressed by Spanish culture.

Instituto Cervantes is a non-profit organization created by the Spanish government in 1991. Its mission is to promote the teaching of Spanish and to contribute to the advancement of the culture of Spanish-speaking countries.

One manager of Instituto Cervantes told us about some famous festivals in Spain including the bull-fighting festival. He pointed out that Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in terms of native speakers. And more people from all walks of life are learning Spanish.

After the interview, he showed us around the library in Instituto Cervantes. The library is a very important window through which to understand Spain. There are many different kinds of books and CDs for the students to learn Spanish there.

The manager hoped that more Chinese students would learn Spanish to better understand the culture of the Spanish-speaking countries and promote cultural exchange in the future.
