CONSTRUCTION of the Qingdao Science Museum is expected to start at the end of this year in Laoshan District. The museum will occupy 3.189 hectares with total floor space of 40,000 square meters. When construction is finished, it will become the main center to promote science. The museum will have exhibition halls, temporary exhibition halls, video, academic exchange and activity halls and a children’s technology land. The exhibition halls will feature information on basic science, oceanology and the introduction of academics, while temporary halls will present the latest scientific achievements. 3D and 4D scientific videos and movies will be shown at the video hall, while training, seminars and meetings will be held at the exchange hall. The activity hall will have laboratories for visitors, while children’s land will mainly conduct scientific activities for students. The city started planning the museum in 1995.
