THE headquarters economy has developed rapidly in Qingdao. According to statistics, there are 273 large headquarters companies which added value of about 77 billion yuan during the first six months of this year, an increase of 6 percent over the same period last year. Of these, 106 manufacturing headquarters paid about 2.927 billion yuan in taxation in the first six months, an increase of 5.1 percent over last year, while 60 large service headquarters paid taxation of 2.553 billion yuan, an increase of about 21 percent. Also this year 13 headquarters, including the Qingdao Branch of OCBC Bank, had been established. Total investment in the projects was 20.4 billion yuan, an increase of 93 percent over the same period last year. It was expected that these projects would generate taxation revenue of 1.146 billion yuan this year. Another 23 headquarters projects costing 33.94 billion yuan are under discussion.
