AN advanced garbage disposal system will be built and promoted in 90 percent of the rural areas in Qingdao by 2013, according to a garbage disposal plan announced recently.

    The aim is to improve the living environment of rural areas and cut the possibility of contagious diseases.

    The city plans to build one or two large garbage treatment plants in three years to service rural areas. Smaller garbage disposal stations will be built in villages.

    Management teams will also be established to promote garbage collection and disposal. Advanced trucks for garbage collection will be given to villages so that every 10 villages shall have one such truck.

    Garbage classification will also be promoted in rural areas.
