Chengyang excels in aquatic exports
    2011-08-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE total production volume of aquatic products in Chengyang District reached 116,000 tons during the first half of this year with production value of 732 million yuan. Total revenue of the aquatic product processing industry reached 3.7 billion yuan and the export volume was US$375, accounting for 47 percent of the city’s total export volume of aquatic product exports.

At present, about 40 percent of the world’s aquatic products are being processed in China and Qingdao is one of the leading cities in the area. Chengyang District is the biggest processing base in Qingdao. More than 80 percent of the cod in Shandong Province is processed at the country’s largest cod processing base in Chengyang.

The fast development of the district’s aquatic product processing industry is mainly due to the fast development of the local fishery industry.

At present, there are leading aquatic companies in Chengyang District such as Jiayuan Group, Yilufa Group, Haoyuan Group, Hongfu Group, Haoda Group and Zhengjin Group. These groups have become the pioneers of the modern fishery industry through product upgrading and industrial transformation.

Exploiting the international markets is a goal for these companies. At present, all the aquatic product processing companies have received FDA certificates and HACCP certificates in the United States and several other international quality certificates. All the products are up to developed world standards.

Meanwhile, several companies such as Jiayuan and Yilufa Group set up branches in countries such as the United States and France to promote their products.

With the upgrading of the industry, the aquatic product sector in Chengyang District has become stronger in promoting the blue economy.
