Vegetable exports to ROK rise
    2011-08-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE city’s imports and exports to South Korea reached US$ 4.974 billion during the first seven months of this year, accounting for 12.53 percent of the city’s total imports and exports, increasing by 7.4 percent compared with the same period of last year. Among these, exports of agricultural products including vegetables had increased significantly.

According to statistics, during the first seven months of this year, agricultural product exports to South Korea reached US$351 million, increasing by 50.6 percent on last year, much higher than the textile industry, mechanical products and the high technology industry. Among these, exports of vegetables had been increased sharply for seven months in a row with the total volume reaching US$153 million, increasing by 70.4 percent on last year. Most of these exported vegetables were peppers, garlics, onions, gingers and cabbages.

Industrial experts expected that the exports of vegetables would grow further in the second half of this year due to the shortage of supplies in South Korea.
