TWO bases in Qingdao, including Jiaonan algal product base and Jimo clothing base, became the first batch of national foreign trading model bases. There are 59 model bases across the country, including five in Shandong Province.

The Ministry of Commerce launched the project in February, aiming at promoting foreign trade nationally. After a series of examinations, 59 bases were chosen from the 94 applications. The country will give out preferential taxation policies and subsidies to the bases to help their development.

All the model bases are leading companies in their area and will receive examinations given by the ministry every three years.
