COMMUNITIES across the United States honored those who were lost in the tragedy. New York City: The 9/11 Memorial officially opened yesterday with a ceremony for victims’ families at Ground Zero. The Memorial will open to the public today for visitors who reserved passes. On Saturday, Community Board 1 held Hands Across Lower Manhattan. Washington, D.C.: Those who died in the attack at the Pentagon will be honored at a ceremony of 700 people, including family members of the deceased and members of the military. Shanksville, Pa.: A commemorative service to honor those who died on Flight 93 at the Memorial Plaza.
