District eyes animation brand
    2011-10-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A CULTURE and technology industrial park has opened in Qingdao’s Chengyang District.

Covering an area of around 700,000 square meters, the Qingdao Fantawild Dreamland is a 2-billion-yuan investment by Shenzhen Huaqiang Culture and Technology Group. The park has more than 10 theme zones.

The opening of the park marks a step forward by the district to build an international culture and technology base.

The park is part of Huaqiang’s culture and technology industrial base in the district, which costs a total of 5 billion yuan. After completion, the base is expected to gather more than 5,000 animation and creative professionals and produce more than 50,000 minutes of footage including animation, games, films and TV dramas each year.

In addition, the district will also be home to other large cultural projects.

Costing 1.87 billion yuan, a CCTV animation industrial park is planned to be completed within three years. The park will integrate indoor tourism, animation production and research and professional training, which is expected to produce more than 15,000 minutes of animated films each year.

Costing 4.8 billion yuan, the Qingdao cultural and creative industrial park in Chengyang Subdistrict combines animation production, professional incubation and service outsourcing.

Chengyang District has been striving to build a creative animation brand.
