Self-service health checks promoted in towns
    2011-10-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A SELF-SERVICE health check system is now being promoted at the city’s town-level health centers.

Residents can receive free checks on indexes such as weight, height, blood pressure, blood sugar, electrocardiogram and lung function at the special room for self-service health checks.

The room named “Health Cottage” covers about 80 square meters with several pieces of health check equipment. They are all easy to use and can print out a report immediately after the checks. Each room has two nurses to teach residents how to use the equipment.

The system is mainly for residents aged over 60 so that they don’t have to travel a long way to the city proper for regular health checks.

So far, more than 3,000 people have received the checks, said Song Tongxun, director of the Puji Township Central Hospital.

The “Health Cottage” program, also initiated in four other township hospitals, will be promoted among all township hospitals in Qingdao.
