罗士涵 东莞市北师大翰林实验学校九年级(15)班 指导老师:蒋坛军 I don't like it when my parents treat me like a child, because I think middle school students are old enough to be independent. One day, my parents said to me: "If you want to be independent, then can you be in charge Sunday?" I promptly answered: "Of course! No problem!" As Sunday approached, I laid plans for how I would rule the roost. Sunday came and I confidently started following my plan. Buying food (7-8 a.m.) I got up early to buy food. But before going out, I found I had not done enough planning. How much food should I buy? How much money should I bring? Which bus should I take to the supermarket? My parents were in bed, so I had to use the internet to find the information I needed. Dictating to parents (8-8:40 a.m.) After coming back home, I ordered my parents to get out of bed. I did not know why my mother got up so fast until she passed me a cup of milk, saying: "Please drink it. It's good for you." I was so unhappy and rejected: "I rule the roast today! Please listen to me!" She laughed. And then, I told my parents: "Please go out for morning exercise! I am going to cook breakfast." They went out quickly, laughing. I then cooked noodles. Although the cooking was simple, working in the kitchen made me hot and sweaty. Unhappy breakfast (8:40-9:10 a.m.) When my parents came home, my younger sister got out of bed. And then we had breakfast. But at the first sip, my sister shouted "Disgusting!" I really wanted to talk back, but I didn't do so, because I found that I agreed. Neither my parents nor sister could finish what I had cooked. After breakfast, my sister asked me: "What are we going to do today?" I said to her: "Buy books in the morning, and you can be free in the afternoon." But she said my idea was boring. Torturous lunch (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) After coming home, I was tired, but I could not rest. I had to start preparing lunch. After stepping into the kitchen, I soon found that cooking lunch was a much bigger challenge than cooking breakfast! You see, I wanted to cook fish, but I did not know how to dissect and I could not stand the fishy smell; I wanted to stir-fry meat, but I did not know how to do that safely. At last, I had to cook vegetables. After much sweating at the stove, I served out the dishes. Before long, we found all the dishes had no salt, one dish was too sweet because of too much sugar, and one had soy sauce instead of vinegar. My sister left the table soon and began to boil instant noodles, my parents carefully picked out a few pieces of the meals and then stopped eating with grimaces, and I? I just took out some crackers as my lunch. Cleaning (1-3:30 p.m.) In the afternoon, my sister was doing homework, father watching TV, and mother reading a book. But I could not have a rest like them, because I had to clean the floor. After the cleaning, I was exhausted, and I really want to sleep. But, my sister came to me, and sadly said: "Brother, I am very, very hungry, could you please cook dinner for us as early as possible?" I feebly responded: "OK." Happy dinner (4-6 p.m.) Instead of cooking at home, I suggested going out to eat. They all happily agreed, and my sister even shouted out: "Hurray, thanks a lot!" During the dinner in the restaurant, everyone ate much more than usual. After the one-day role play, I realized that ruling the roost is not easy, and I am quite far from being independent! And, I fully knew how hard my parents have worked, because they not only rule the roost everyday, but also work. What is more, they do a very good job of both. |
