    2011-10-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Qingdao reported 52.4 billion yuan in tourism income in the first quarter of this year, a 15.9 percent increase on year, according to the city's tourism bureau.

The city received 40.64 million tourists from home and abroad , increasing by 13 percent over the same period of last year.

Qingdao invested more than eight billion yuan on tourism projects in the first three quarters. According to a planning, the city would push forward the construction of 77 key tourism projects, which combined cost 128 billion yuan.

Nine of the projects such as a theme park and a souvenir sales center have been completed and opened for business.

The city has been piloting a standard tourism service in its two districts and 59 tourism enterprises.

In addition, the city government has issued four standards to regulate its tourism industry.
