Residents to drink desalinated sea water
    2011-10-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The city's sea water desalination project has been close to completion and will start supplying desalinated water to residents next July.

Located on Yinjiang Road in the city, the sea water desalination facility is a cooperation with one of the world's largest sea water desalination companies, a water company in Spain. The facility is also the biggest of its kind in China.

Costing 122 million Euro dollars, the facility is designed to desalinate 10 tons of sea water each day.

After the full completion this year, the facility will supply the desalinated sea water through the city 's tap water network in July next year.

The facility is expected to supply water to 500,000 residents each day. The four districts in urban Qingdao need around 600,000 tons of fresh water each day.
