39 PhDs "recruit" employers
    2011-10-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A TOTAL of 39 doctoral students from Qingdao University opened a booth at a job fair on Haier Road recently, seeking employers for their careers. It was the first time in the city to have job seekers "recruiting" employers, said a staff member from Qingdao University.

Representatives of 49 well-known companies, 22 job agencies and six Qingdao universities attended the job fair, which was named "Talent Supermarket" and aiming to find employers for high-end professionals.

At the Talent Supermarket, there were booths set up by employers, jobseekers as well as headhunters.

"We are representing more than 30 high-end professionals and some of them may have annual income of more than 1 million yuan," said a manager from a headhunt agency at the fair.

"They are very popular and many employers want to interview them," he said.

Attending companies offered 630 positions, while headhunters offered information about 450 high-end professionals. Local universities also provided information about 11,000 master and doctor degree holders. Some 3,000 professionals attended the fair in person, of whom 90 percent held master's or higher degrees.

"Due to the city's industrial upgrading, high-end professionals are now very popular," said Liu Weiguo, vice director of the city's human resources and social security bureau.

"This job fair helps both professionals and employers better present themselves and understand their needs."
