The best smart phones
    2011-10-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

When given the choice to take only one thing with them on a journey, many urbanites say they would take with them their mobile phone. A glimpse of the long queue before opening time at an Apple store, you will know how crazy some people are about phones. Here we give you a glimpse of the most popular smart phones.

    Motorola Droid Bionic

Good: The Motorola Droid Bionic has a nice, slim and sleek design, with a 4.3-inch qHD display and the double whammy of a dual-core processor and Verizon 4G LTE support. Multimedia features are plentiful, and business users will be pleased with its enterprise abilities like the Webtop application and solid security. We were also pleased with its long battery life.

Bad: The Motorola Droid Bionic is saddled with Motorola’s custom UI, which might not be for everyone. The camera has a slight shutter lag, the display is not as sharp as we would like, and it’s also quite expensive. The Webtop accessories are not cheap.

Bottom line: The Motorola Droid Bionic is everything you want from a high-end smart phone. It is sleek, fast, and powerful, with features that will please both consumers and business users — if you are willing to pay the high price.

Compared with its previous model, the hardware is slimmer, sleeker, and definitely more polished. Indeed, Verizon claims that the Droid Bionic is its thinnest 4G LTE device yet. Also, while there are many dual-core smart phones and Verizon 4G LTE handsets on the market, the Droid Bionic is the first to be both. And Motorola wisely ships the phone with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread instead of just Android 2.2. You will be impressed by its multimedia capabilities, enterprise-friendly applications, and the powerful Webtop application that helps turn it from a phone into a portable PC with the aid of accessories like a laptop dock.

    iPhone 4S

Good: Apple’s iPhone 4S has a faster processor and an upgraded camera, all the benefits of iOS 5, and a useful and immensely fun voice assistant. Call quality is admirable, and the data speeds, while certainly not 4G, get the job done.

Bad: It is about time we had a larger screen.

Bottom line: The iPhone 4S isn’t the king of cell phones, but it’s part of the royal family nonetheless. Even without 4G and a giant screen, this phone’s smart voice assistant, Siri, the benefits of iOS 5, and its spectacular camera make it a top choice for anyone ready to upgrade.

With 4S, iPhone owners finally get a 64GB model and a better camera, the dual-core processor delivers more speed, and Siri, the iPhone 4S’ personal assistant/robot friend/gofer, adds a new and sassy experience. iOS 5 also trots out changes big and small.

    HTC Sensation 4G

Good: The HTC Sensation 4G boasts a sleek, high-quality design with a gorgeous 4.3-inch qHD display. The Android smart phone also features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 8-megapixel camera, and the HTC Sense user interface brings some thoughtful and useful new features.

Bad: The smart phone does not offer much internal memory, and its speakers are pretty weak.

Bottom line: Its excellent design and user experience, coupled with its solid performance, make the HTC Sensation 4G one of the best Android phones yet and a top pick for T-Mobile customers.

Not only did HTC give the phone a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 4.3-inch qHD display, but it enhanced the user experience by adding some great features to the HTC Sense user interface.

The HTC Sensation 4G is one of the best-looking and most well-built smart phones we’ve seen to date, and it is not because of any flashy gimmicks, but simply a solid and sleek design. Like a number of HTC handsets, the Sensation 4G has a unibody aluminum chassis with a streamlined and high-quality construction.

    Xiaomi X1

Good: Xiaomi X1 comes with the Android mod “Miui” installed right out of the factory. The phone also runs on a dual-core processor that is clocked at a very impressive 1.5GHz. This raises the bar for smart phones such as the Galaxy S2 and the Sensation, which are both clocked at 1.2GHz.

Bad: Some users have reported the battery turning hot after long conversations over the phone. As this is the first product of the company, you may also expect its performance to be not as stable as established brands.

Bottom line: It is hard to get a high-performance smart phone at this price.

Xiaomi X1 will have a 4” display at a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. There are three touch buttons below the display. There is also a so-called “mi key,” which you can customize to control your camera shutter and your user interface navigation. (SD-Agencies)
