International piano concerto competition

The 2nd China Shenzhen International Piano Concerto Competition, Shenzhen’s top-level competition in the arts sector, is now being held at Shenzhen Concert Hall from Oct. 24 to Nov. 5.

This weekend will see the semifinals held Oct. 30 and 31 at Shenzhen Concert Hall. Six contestants will reach the final to be held Nov. 2 to 4. Judges will also give master classes at Shenzhen Arts School during the weekend.

The competition is one of three international piano competitions approved by the Chinese Government and the only concerto competition in China.

Master classes

Time: 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Oct. 28 and 29; 9 a.m., Oct. 30 and 31

Presenters: Arnulf von Arnim, Andrea Bonnata, Christopher Elton, Guillermo Gonzalez, Einar Steen-Nokleberg, Jacque Rouvier

Ticket: 50 yuan

Venue: Shenzhen Arts School

Buses: 4, 8, 30, 59, 219, 305, 375, 393, E4, E5 (Jisheng Zhongxin stop)

Semifinals

Time: 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., Oct. 30 and 31

Ticket: 60-100 yuan

Venue: Shenzhen Concert Hall, intersection of Hongli Road and Yitian Road, Futian District (福田区红荔路和益田路交汇处深圳音乐厅)
